Internet Explorer has had the lion's share of the browser market for a while, but there are other, often better options out there. You do not have to use the browser that came with your computer; in fact, you need to upgrade to the latest version of the browser you are using to get the most out of the internet.
All of the newer browsers have good support for web standards and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Internet Explorer was traditionally a web designer's headache because it had so many quirks, but they're supposed to be getting better.
