Reunion 2010
Hope to see you all July 25-30, 2010 at the Glorieta campground in the mountains near Santa Fe.
The Don Graves’ family is looking at New Mexico for the 2010 reunion——July 25-30. We’ve signed a contract with Glorieta campground but we are allowed to get out of it without penalty up until January of 2010 if we find something different.
The dates are July 25-30, 2010. Registration begins Sunday at 4pm and check out is Friday 11:00am. I have the understanding that if you can’t stay all week, you may reserve less than that but we’d need to know by April or May of 2010, your intentions. A complete exact list of rooms/guest names is due three weeks before our reunion.
The camp houses 2,000 people and amazingly, even last fall, they were limited in what they still had available two years out. Right now we have a lodge (6 bedrooms and kitchen), 11 hotel style rooms, 15 campsites reserved. They didn’t have any more hotel style rooms available at contract time. I emailed our contact person today and there are still no more hotel rooms available. But she said to keep in touch with her and she will give me updates as other groups may cancel, etc. Even though there are a lot of people using the grounds, we will still have a “family feel” since we are renting a lodge for our meals.
Each lodge bedroom and each hotel room has 2 queen beds each—plus floor space for children/teen/college age.
Connie said camping in the mountains at that time of year is very nice. Her family has been camping in that area before. Lydia Wolcott Williams has been to Glorieta and she recommended it to us for the 2010 reunion.
At this point, Connie, Mom and Dad, and I and any other Wolcotts that want to go along are going to visit Glorieta this July to see what it is like as far as weather/temps for that time of year. We are also going to check out the lodge which seems similar to what the Merrill Graves reserved in VA this past summer.
We are planning on the oldest generation and those with small children to stay in the lodge unless you want the hotel room or want to camp. Not including camping, we have beds for 68 people, if you fill the four bed spaces in each room. There are two sleeper sofas in the lodge living room if needed.
We will be cooking our own meals in the lodge. More details will follow concerning meals.
Glorieta will provide a meeting room just for our family reunion for movies, power point-type things, talent show.
Here is a website to view the facilities:

Under “Accomodations” click on “deluxe” to view the hotel. Ours is called “The Hall of States”. We will be in queen rooms.
Under “lodge”, ours is Lodge 202 but I didn’t see a picture this time. I’ll send out the one our contact person sent me in an earlier email.
Under “recreation” you can click on a campus map to view the lay-out of the place.
Sante Fe is roughly 20 minutes away.
Glorieta offers an incredibly wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for guests of all ages and athletic abilities. For you golf enthusiasts, there are golf courses in the area.

I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it.
